Official Sheinbaum announces forums in Mexico to design 2024-2030 Government plan

The official candidate for the 2024 elections, Claudia Sheinbaumpresented this Sunday the team that will shape his Government project and development plan 2024-2030, through what he called ‘Dialogues for Transformation’, 17 forums with prominent members of civil society.

The coordinator of these dialogues will be Juan Ramón de la Fuente, former rector of the UNAM and who recently concluded his assignment as representative of Mexico to the United Nations (UN).

De la Fuente highlighted the historic opportunity for all sectors of society to participate in the construction of the nation project, in an inclusive and open way.

“We have before us a noble cause and a historic opportunity: to consolidate the transformation of the country and do so in an increasingly inclusive, open way and with a deep democratic and dialogue conviction,” Dela Fuente expressed at the event.

The discussion forums will be headed, among other people, by the former governor of the state of Chihuahua (north) and former member of the National Action Party Javier Corral, as well as the historian Lorenzo Meyer, the economist Gerardo Esquivel, the senator and former minister of the Supreme Court Olga Sánchez Cordero, the former Secretary of Security of Mexico City Omar García Harfuch and the former president of the Supreme Court Arturo Zaldívar.

“I have decided to invite very diverse personalities. The idea is that they coordinate these dialogues on different topics.”said Sheinbaum, a candidate for the Let’s Keep Making History coalition, made up of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), Labor (PT) and Green Ecologist of Mexico (PVEM) parties.

“So that there is no confusion, it is nothing more than the work tables, the dialogues, which will allow the Government program and the development plan to be built from plural, diverse opinions.”. she added.

He also clarified that his movement “it does not aim to construct homogeneous thoughts” and that is why everyone’s participation is important.

“It doesn’t mean that we agree on everything and that’s good, we don’t want homogeneous thoughts, that’s what democracy is for, the important thing is to continue dialogue, that’s why this exercise is called ‘Dialogues for Transformation’,” he added.

Another person who attended and who will join Sheinbaum’s project was the former governor of the state of Oaxaca (south) and former member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Alejandro Murat.

Sheinbaum, a favorite in the polls, will face in June next year Xóchitl Gálvez, senator of the conservative National Action Party (PAN) and pre-candidate of the opposition Frente Amplio por México, made up of the Institutional Revolutionary Parties (PRI), PAN and the Revolution. Democratic Party (PRD), in the 2024 presidential elections.

While the opposition Citizen Movement (MC) is still looking for a candidate after the decline on Saturday of the governor of the state of Nuevo León, Samuel García, due to legal issues and clashes with the Congress of his state.

The two women have already started their campaigns, which will conclude on January 18, 2024. At this stage, the candidates will begin their period of exposure to the general public and their party members.
