USA sanctioned this Thursday twelve companies from the Balkans and two Serbian politicians, and blocked three Emirati ships for transporting russian oil above the maximum price.
The State Department and the Treasury Department reported in a statement that the three United Arab Emirates ships imported Russian crude oil above the price cap allowed by the Price Cap Coalition, promoted by the countries of the G7 and in which the European Union and Australia.
“This action is part of our continued vigilance to monitor compliance with the maximum price policy. “We will continue to take action to maintain the price cap and support compliance,” the State Department noted in a statement.
The goal of this coalition, he recalled, is to prevent Russia from obtaining a large wartime premium for its oil sales and at the same time maintain the stability of the global energy market.
The State Department also sanctioned two Serbian politicians: Misa Vacic, current president of the Right Party, “for participating in activities that undermine peace, security, political stability or territorial order.”
And also to Nenad Popovic, Minister of the Government of Serbia from 2017 to 2022, who founded the Serbian People’s Party in 2014. Popovic, says USAis the owner of numerous companies and holdings in Serbia and Russia and uses high-level connections with the Kremlin to enrich himself and facilitate embezzlement and corrupt tax schemes.
In addition to Popovic, the State Department also sanctioned twelve companies associated with him from sectors such as real estate, electronics or engineering.
As a result of today’s action, all property and interests in property of persons located in the United States or in the possession or control of US persons must be blocked and reported to the Office of Asset Control Foreign.
