More of 180,000 people have demonstrated this Sunday in several French cities to protest against antisemitism in events that have had the support of the center, the right and a good part of the French left.
The Civic March against Antisemitism has had its main act in Pariswhere they have participated about 105,000 people, according to police data. At the head, a banner with several political figures with the motto “For the Republic, against anti-Semitism.”
The absence of the La Francia Insumisa party stands out, mainly due to the participation of the French extreme right with parties such as Unión Nacional or Reconquista.
The French president himself, Emmanuel Macronhas not participated in the march, but published an open letter on Saturday urging the French not to give in to anti-Semitism and to remain united.
There have also been demonstrations in Lyon, Grenoble, Lille, Marseille or Nice in what is now considered the most powerful mobilization against anti-Semitism since the protest march against the desecration of the Carpentras Jewish cemetery in 1990.
