There are at least 239 hostages held by Palestinian militias in the Gaza Strip, although there are several negotiation initiatives to free some of those kidnapped during the Hamas attacks on October 7 against Israel.
Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive in retaliation for the Hamas attacks on October 7, more than 11,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, according to the local Ministry of Health, controlled by the Islamist movement. Among the victims there are at least 4,500 children.
