New night of protests against the amnesty, now in front of the EP headquarters in Madrid

The protests against a amnesty to Catalan independentists to support the socialist’s investiture Pedro Sanchez as president of the Spanish Government moved this Thursday to the headquarters of the European Parliament in Madrid.

The rallies were repeated for the seventh consecutive day before the headquarters of the socialist party PSOE in different parts of Spain and on this occasion also before the European Parliament in the capital of Spain.

Around a thousand people gathered in front of the European Parliament headquarters on the day the PSOE and the Catalan independence party Junts signed the agreement for the investiture.

The participants in the rally, with the motto “Europe! Stop the amnesty!”they demanded from the rest of Europe “to look at Spain and put an end to the abuses that are being committed.”

Some of those present carried signs that, in English, read “SOS Europe”, “Europe wakes up”, “Spain can’t breathe.”

After the rally, many of the participants went to the PSOE headquarters in Madrid, where hundreds of people, many carrying Spanish flags, gathered in front of a strong police force.

Dictator, Pedro Sanchez“he is not a president, he is a criminal” either “Catalonia is Spain” were some of the chanted slogans, between posters of “Spain does not pay traitors, no amnesty”, “Sánchez, go now” either “Sánchez traitor.”

The rally has taken place every night since last weekend in front of the socialist headquarters, last Tuesday with incidents in which there were six detainees and nearly forty injured, most of them police officers.

The support of the Catalan independentists is key so that Sánchez can govern for four more years, without the date to vote on his investiture having yet been set, although it is expected to be held next week, and for which he also has the support from other leftist groups and Basque and Galician nationalists.
