The Spanish citizen killed in a Hamas attack, Ivan Illarramendiwas burned alive with his partner in his house in a kibbutz near Gaza during the attack by the Palestinian militia on October 7, a spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry told ‘EFE’.

The spokesperson also assured that the delay in identifying both is due to the fact that the remains consist only of ashes and few parts of their bodieswhich cannot be separated.

The couple was murdered, as confirmed by the Israeli ambassador to Spain, Rodica Radian-Gordon: “Our hearts are torn by the news of the brutal murder of Iván Illarramendi. He was identified a month later of the terrorist massacre committed by Hamas in Israel, along with his wife,” the diplomat wrote in her account on X.

Illarramendi is the second Spaniard to die after the Hamas terrorist offensive, after the Spanish-Israeli citizen Maya Villalobo Sinvany. The deceased lived with his Chilean wife in a kibbutz two kilometers from the Gaza Strip, where he was kidnapped without it being known until now what fate he had suffered.

Now, the murder has been confirmed to have occurred in the attack of October 7where more than a thousand militants from the Islamist group Hamas infiltrated Israel in a terrorist attack that left some 1,400 dead, nearly 5,400 injured, more than 200 kidnapped and as many missing.
