UN warns that the Gaza Strip is suffering a new telecommunications blackout

The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) warned today that the Gaza Strip is suffering a new telecommunications blackoutthe third in the last ten days, with the consequent difficulties for the organization to contact the members of its team in the Palestinian enclave.

“The Gaza Strip is currently experiencing a communications blackout. “UNRWA cannot communicate with the vast majority of our team,” The agency reported this Sunday through its X account (formerly Twitter).

In the publication, the organization noted that “This is the third communications blackout in the last ten days” and pointed out that “Gaza residents are completely isolated from their loved ones and the rest of the world.”

The telecommunications cutoff coincides with a new massive bombing against the Gaza Stripaccording to various activists on social networks.

Last Wednesday, the Palestinian telecommunications operator Paltel announced a new internet and telephone cutoff in the Palestinian enclave, after communications in Gaza were restored the previous Sunday after spending a day and a half cut off, when Israel announced that it had expanded its land operations.

On the other hand, in the latest situation report, UNRWA raised the number of humanitarian workers killed by Israeli bombings in the Strip to 73 since the start of the war between the Islamist group Hamas and Israel on October 7.

More than 9,700 people have died and 24,800 have been injured in the Gaza Strip due to Israel’s bombings since the start of the war, as reported this Sunday by the Gaza Ministry of Health, which detailed that 4,008 of the deceased are minors.
