, but it is addressed primarily to creators (companies, influencers, etc.), which the company clearly communicates. Now, however, the paid version of Facebook is debuting in Europe. Fortunately, you will be able to use the free version without any changes.
There is Facebook without ads. Only for Europe. But the prices are high
The new package from Meta basically brings only one benefit. It gives you access to an ad-free version of Facebook and Instagram (in one package), regardless of the number of accounts you have on both platforms. Since Meta lives on advertising, you will have to pay for such pleasure. And that’s a lot. By activating the subscription in the browser, the ad-free package will cost EUR 9.99 (PLN 44.50) per month. In the application on Android and iOS ($12.99, or approximately PLN 58 per month), which is, of course, due to the commission of the Google Play and App Store stores.
Given the relatively high prices, it is difficult to expect the program to be a spectacular success, but Meta does not hide that such an option results directly from EU regulations. By giving users the ability to access ad-free Facebook and Instagram, Meta will be able to continue serving us personalized ads on the free versions of both services. People who do not want Meta to collect data about their advertising preferences will have to purchase a paid subscription.
Paid access without ads starts in November (no exact date given), but initially it will cover only one (main) user account on both platforms. For each additional one you will have to pay 6 or 8 euros. Effective March 1, 2024, this additional fee will disappear and subscribers will be able to enjoy ad-free access across all accounts connected to their Account Center for a single fee.
Due to the fact that the new subscription is a response to EU requirements, it will not be available anywhere outside Europe. Only residents of member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland will be able to use the package. From November 6, Meta will also temporarily stop displaying ads to all underage users, which is most likely due to uncertainty as to how the company can use their data to personalize ads so as not to violate EU law.
