Bus bomb kills two in Afghanistan’s capital

Two people died and four were injured by the explosion of two bombs.

Two people were killed and four wounded by the explosion of two bombs in the west of the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Friday, the Taliban government reported.

“Two civilians were killed and three others injured” when a bomb exploded on a minibus in Kabul’s Dasht e Barchi district, Taliban Interior Ministry spokesman Sayed Khosti told reporters.

“In another explosion, in the same area, a woman was injured,” he added, specifying that the second explosion was also due to a bomb.

At the moment, no one claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Dasht e Barchi is largely populated by the predominantly Shiite Hazara community, which for years has been the target of violence from the Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K) jihadist group.

The incident came a week after more than 60 people were killed in an explosion claimed by the group at a mosque in northern Kunduz province.

The Taliban have vowed to crack down on this rival Sunni extremist group by cracking down on hideouts used by jihadists, especially in the south and east of the country. (I)
