“After consulting with King Abdullah II of Jordan and in light of the days of mourning announced by President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, President Biden will postpone his trip to Jordan and the planned meeting with these two leaders and President Sisi of Egypt ”, said sources pointed out.
Biden, they added, “He hopes to speak in person with these leaders soon.” and will remain “in regular and direct contact with each of them over the next few days.”
Official White House sources assured that Biden has sent “his deepest condolences for the innocent lives lost in the hospital explosion in Gaza” and that he wishes “a speedy recovery to the injured.”
The Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, announced this Tuesday that, after the attack on the hospital, Jordan decided not to host the quadripartite summit that was scheduled for Wednesday in Amman with the participation of Biden.
The minister made these statements to Jordanian state television Al Mamlaka after the Arab country declared three days of mourning for the bombing of the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza, whose responsibility is still unclear.
While Israel accuses the Islamic Jihad organization, Palestinians and Arab countries blame Israeli forces.
Biden was scheduled to travel to Amman on Wednesday, after Israel – a trip announced this Monday by Secretary of State, Antony Blinken – to meet with Arab leaders and negotiate the opening of a humanitarian corridor.
