The Chinese company Trina Solar, specialized in photovoltaic products and systems and energy intelligent, will invest between US$700 and US$1,000 million in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, in the north of the Latin American country, the state government said on Monday.
The announcement is part of a tour of Asia by the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, who last week announced an investment of about US$200 million by the Japanese Kawasaki in the installation of a plant in that state bordering the United States.
The state government did not detail what Trina will invest the money in, but explained in a statement that photovoltaic systems include power plants and that smart energy involves the generation and storage of solar energy. The Chinese company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
