International community fears for civilians if Israel enters Gaza

The international community has expressed its concern for the fate of more than a million civilians in the strip of Loop before which it seems an imminent entry by land of the Israeli Army to combat the Palestinian Islamist group Hamasauthor of the attack against Israel on the 7th and who holds more than a hundred people hostage there.

Israel today gave a deadline of 24 hours for the evacuation of civilians from the northern Gaza Strip, including Gaza City, and urged them to move south, which involves the movement of more than a million people.

The UN tries to dissuade Israel without success

The UN and international humanitarian organizations have spent the last few hours trying to dissuade Israel, so far without any success, when the 24-hour deadline expires and have warned that it would have unimaginable humanitarian consequences.

“Gaza is rapidly turning into a hellhole and is on the brink of collapse,” said the Secretary General of the UN Organization for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, a description of the situation very similar to that made by the World Health Organization (WHO), which also stated that evacuating hospitals from northern Gaza is impossible.

The West and Islamic countries clash at the UN over war

The UN Human Rights Council today became the scene of confrontation between Arab and Muslim countries, on the one hand, and Western countries, on the other, in the face of the war in which Israel and Hamas are immersed.

The United States, France and the United Kingdom, like all the other Western countries that intervened in the Council, declared their unconditional support for Israel and condemned the attacks by Hamas, which they considered a terrorist group.

On the other hand, nations such as Iran and Pakistan – on behalf of the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation – denounced the large-scale destruction of Gaza, with attacks that do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, but failed to mention the crimes committed by Hamas against the Israeli civilians in the last week.

The EU considers the ultimatum “unrealistic”

The high representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, considered today “unrealistic” the ultimatum given by the Israeli Army.

Borrell stated before the press in Beijing after co-chairing the EU-China Strategic Dialogue with the Chinese Foreign Minister that “It is certainly very unrealistic that a million people can move in 24 hours” and emphasized that “The alerts are positive but they have to be realistic to avoid devastating humanitarian consequences.”

The US claims that “This is no time for neutrality.”

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in Tel Aviv that the Pentagon is prepared to send more support to Israel “if required”.

The Secretary of Defense stressed that “This is no time for neutrality.” and that everyone who wants lasting peace in the region “must condemn and isolate” to the Islamist group, which controls the Gaza Strip.

For his part, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, avoided answering whether his country supports the ultimatum that the Israeli Army has given to the inhabitants of the northern Gaza Strip.

“Our priority is to open safe areas,” Blinken said, avoiding a direct question from a journalist at a press conference with his Qatari counterpart, Mohamed bin Abderrahman, from Doha, where the American is on a tour of the Middle East.

The United Kingdom emphasizes Israel’s right to defend itself

British Defense Minister Grant Shapps stated that Israel has “right to defend oneself” and supported the order given by the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to evacuate northern Gaza before entering “chase” to the “terrorists”.

Speaking to the ITV channel, Shapp considered that Israel has the right to “go after” Hamas, while stressing that it must act taking into account international law.

Jordan’s king warns of mass displacement

King Abdullah II of Jordan warned Blinken before “any attempt to displace Palestinians” from the Gaza Strip and stressed that the crisis must not spread to neighboring countries and exacerbate the refugee issue.

Abdullah II reminded Blinken of the “need to open urgent humanitarian corridors” to bring necessary aid to the Palestinian enclave, where more than 2.2 million people reside and which is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe.

The Palestinian president calls for “release of prisoners”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today called for “release of prisoners” and condemned the murder of civilians by “both sides”in reference to Israel’s attacks against the population of the Gaza Strip and those of the Islamist movement Hamas against the Jewish State, which have resulted in the death of more than 2,800 people in total.

“The president affirmed his rejection of practices related to the murder or abuse of civilians on both sides and called for the release of civilians, prisoners and detainees” during his meeting with Blinken in Amman, capital of Jordan, according to the official Palestinian agency Wafa.

Putin affirms that they will be “unacceptable” the victims that the Israeli operation may cause

The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, warned this Friday that the civilian casualties that an Israeli ground operation would cause in the Gaza Strip would be “unacceptable”.

“The ground operation in Gaza and the use of heavy weapons in residential neighborhoods will have serious consequences for all parties,” Putin said at a summit of leaders of the post-Soviet Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Bishkek.

Egypt denounces the “Israeli intransigence”

Egyptian authorities remain in contact with Israel and its Western allies to establish a truce, but denounced the “intransigence” Israeli, as well as American and British support for the measures taken by the Jewish State, including its call for Gazans to evacuate northern Gaza, Egyptian security sources reported.

These sources, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of this issue and because Cairo is the main mediator in this new war between Hamas and Israel, assured that Egypt is “trying to prepare the ground” in the face of a possible ground attack by Israel.
