A teacher has been murdered and two other people have been serious injuries this Friday in a knife attack at a secondary school in Arras (northern France), local media reported.

Police sources have indicated to the BFMTV channel that the teacher was beheaded and that the director of the center is one of the injured. The alleged perpetrator, of some 20 years old and Chechen origin, is a former student of the center and was booked by the Police for alleged radicalization. His older brother has also been arrested.

Regarding the nature of this act, it will be the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT for its French acronym) that must determine if there are sufficient elements to take charge of the investigation of the case.

The Prefecture (government delegation) of the department of Pas de Calais and the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, have limited themselves to saying for now that there is a police operation underway at the Gambetta high school in Arras, which the author has been arrested and the situation is under control.
