The government of Venezuela will hold a national congress of environmental researchers, with which it hopes to gather useful ideas to mitigate or eradicate the effects of climate crisisThe Ministry of Ecosocialism (Environment) reported this Sunday.
This is the second scientific summit organized by the Executive to address these issues, after a first meeting held in May 2022, when the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, asked the participants to build a plan that allows the country to face the environmental crisis.
Now, the conferences and debates will take place in Caracas and in the states of Mérida (west) and Anzoátegui (northeast), from this Monday until next Sunday.
“Useful and effective studies, projects and initiatives in the fight against the climate crisis will be debated and analyzed.”“, indicated the State portfolio on X (formerly Twitter), where it stressed that the objective is “shaping a sustainable future” for “a green generation”.
In the previous congress, the Government included several proposals, among them that of integrating indigenous, local and scientific knowledge systems, the management of agrobiodiversity in the conucos and the ecological restoration of the forest.
The Administration of Nicolás Maduro defends that countries have a “differentiated responsibility” about the climate crisis, for which he blames mainly the United States and the capitalist system.
