For his part, the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terejov, has confirmed the death of the child and has conveyed his condolences to his family. “The enemy’s blows fall exclusively on civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv,” he stressed in a message on Telegram.

The attack comes a day after the death of more than 50 people in a bombing Russian against the town of Grozalocated in Kharkiv, which reached a cafeteria and a grocery store, as noted by the Ukrainian authorities.

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, spoke afterward of “a brutal crime”, while Klimenko stressed that “it is a tragedy for Ukraine.” The Kharkiv Prosecutor’s Office highlighted that the attack was the one that caused the most deaths in the region since the beginning of the invasion, unleashed on February 24, 2022.
