Trinitybased on the new scalable systems platform of Volkswagenwas to be launched in 2026 as part of the plans of the previous CEO, Herbert Diess.
However, shortly after taking office, his successor, Oliver Blumedelayed the project by two years to relieve pressure on Cariad, a struggling software subsidiary.
Volkswagen had initially planned to build a new factory for the model, but due to delays in the brand’s development, the German automaker also evaluated converting its Wolfsburg factory.

Instead, the project Trinity will be manufactured in the plant Zwickau of Volkswagenwhich currently has weak demand and is in the process of cutting its three-shift production schedule, which has been in place for more than three decades.
