When he published the book “Black Sun” in 2019, readers predicted that the author would not be able to write anything stronger, dirtier and less pleasant to read. The novel was difficult to get through even for the writer’s most ardent readers. Krzysztof Zalewski admitted that before he finished reading it, it ended up in his trash can three times. It wasn’t about the quality of the novel, but its brutality, language and the difficulty of seeing the world through the eyes of such a spoiled hero. Żulczyk apparently decided that he would take up the challenge and create another hero whose story is extremely difficult to swallow.

We are talking about the narrator of “Feedback” from 2021, which was promoted by the sentence: “My name is Marcin Kania. I am an alcoholic and I am about to kill a man.” Picking up Jakub Żulczyk’s latest publication, we must prepare for a visit to the head of a man who has hit rock bottom. Kania tries to get out of it to find her missing son, but she evokes anger in the reader more often than sympathy.

Transferring novels written from a first-person perspective is nothing new, but here we are dealing with unique source material. Our omniscient narrator cannot rely on his thoughts or memories. Many fans of Żulczyk’s prose were afraid that this type of stream of consciousness could not be translated to the screen.

However, a trailer of the production has appeared online, revealing the way in which the creators managed to arrange Marcin Kania’s world to make it understandable to the viewer. The short teaser shows that the chaos in the hero’s head was most likely not abandoned, and was even more emphasized with editing, cinematography and camera work. The announcement is fragmented, blurry and dizzying, which may calm down anyone who was wondering: “how will they do it?”
Arkadiusz Jakubik in the role of Marcin Kania seems to be a very lazy and obvious choice, but after just a few dozen seconds of the video we can see that he fit into the role exceptionally well. We will find out how “Feedback” will actually look on screen in November this year. The new Netflix series was directed by Leszek Dawid and written by Kacper Wysocki.
