The last public appearances of the former first lady, 73, were during the presidential elections this year, where, already visibly deteriorated, she starred in videos on social networks with her son Kenji to support the candidacy of Keiko, who for the third time in a row was on the verge of being president of Peru.

At the beginning of last November, Keiko Fujimori _ leader of Fuerza Popular_ had indicated that her mother was in and had been admitted to a clinic for presenting respiratory problems. “His condition is serious and he is in intensive care. Public life

Higuchi was first lady of Peru between 1990 and 1994, when he divorced Fujimori and accused him of kidnapping and torture with “electroshock” at the facilities of the Army Intelligence Services (SIE), within the military complex known as the Pentagonito.

Previously, Higuchi had denounced to the press the relatives of her then husband for having sold clothes donated by the Japanese cooperation, an accusation that was not supported by the president.

Higuchi’s accusations of torture have always been flatly denied by his sons, especially Keiko and Kenji.

In the 1995 elections, with all the powers of the State already controlled by Fujimori after the “self-coup” of 1992, illegally prevented from participating in elections as part of the opposition, where he was part of the lists for Congress.

In both the 2000 and 2001 elections, she managed to be elected as a congresswoman for the Independent Moralizing Front, but shortly after she resigned due to disagreements with her peers on the bench. (I)
