Freddie Mercury’s bracelet has been sold. The buyer paid a huge sum

Freddie Mercury’s bracelet went to auction in London. The artist appeared in it in the music video for the song “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The amount paid by the buyer is the highest amount ever spent on a single piece of jewelry owned by a rock star.

A snake-shaped bracelet belonging to the musician was sold at an auction in London for 815,000 euros. This is almost twice the amount paid in 2008 by the buyer of John Lennon’s pendant. So far, it was this transaction that was considered a record in terms of the amount that was spent on jewelry belonging to a rock star.

What else is up for auction in London?

The handwritten text “Bohemian Rhapsody” was also put up for auction. The author wrote it down on British Midland Airlines letterhead. The buyer paid €1.6 million for this item. However, this is not the highest amount, because the piano with which Freddie Mercury composed Queen’s songs was sold for 2 million euros. This was still a lower amount than initially forecast.

Other items belonging to Freddie Mercury were also put up for auction in London. These included musical instruments, Picasso paintings, and even cat figurines.

Support for charitable organizations

The auction organizers announced that part of the proceeds from the sale of the artist’s items will be donated to charities, including those involved in helping AIDS patients. The event was planned by Freddie Mercury’s longtime friend, Mary Austin. In total, as many as six auctions have been planned. The musician died on November 24, 1991 of pneumonia, which he contracted as a result of weakening the immune system caused by AIDS.
