At least 16 people died and another five were injured as a result of a Russian attack on the Kostiantinivka central marketin the Donetsk province of eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian public news agency, Ukrinform, reported on Wednesday.
“The enemy reached the central market of Kostiantinivka, in the Donetsk region”, reads the information, which cites as a source the Military Administration of this oblast partially occupied by Russia, through which the front line.
The massacre was condemned by Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky, who said on Telegram that “at this moment, the artillery of Russian terrorists has killed 16 people in the city of Kostiantinivka, in the Donetsk region.” Ukrainian posted along with his message a video showing the moment of the deflagration and some of its devastating effects on the market.
“A normal market. Stores. A drugstore. People who had done nothing wrong. Many injured. Unfortunately, the number of dead and wounded may rise”, wrote Zelensky, who criticized in his message those who “still try” to compromise with Russia. “It means closing our eyes to this reality,” he added. The Ukrainian president described as “inhumane” and “perverse” this new lethal attack by Russian forces against the Ukrainian civilian population.
