Not “Wednesday” or “Stranger Things.” The new Netflix series broke the platform’s record

The new Netflix series broke the record previously held by “Wednesday” and the fourth season of “Stranger Things”. The production delighted both viewers and critics.

The series “Stranger Things” was one of the first productions that achieved spectacular success around the world. The production was different from those broadcast at the time, and the company’s bold decision paid off. In recent years, “Wednesday” has also turned out to be a hit of the platform. The return of Tim Burton and his dark climates, as well as the fantastic performance of Jenny Ortega meant that for many weeks almost nothing else was said on the web than the adventures of the young representative of the Addams family.

There’s a new Netflix hit. This show beats “Wednesday” and “Stranger Things”

According to the Comic Book portal, both titles have already been dethroned by the latest Netflix series. The live action “One Piece” broke the record, which so far belonged to “Wednesday” and the fourth season of “Stranger Things”. The series debuted on their premiere weekend in the TOP 10 of Netflix in 83 countries. The new series of the streaming giant surpassed the already known productions by one position – it conquered 84 national rankings.

“One Piece” is an example that proves that creators should start looking for new inspirations for their productions. While successive titles of well-known franchises have low viewership and reviews that leave much to be desired, the series about the Straw Hat Crew is climbing the statistics.

Best Netflix series? Critics appreciated “One Piece”

The live-action production is an adaptation of the adventure manga by Eiichiro Oda. Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has wanted freedom for as long as he can remember. So he sets off from his village on a dangerous journey in search of a fabulous treasure, the title One Piece, to become the king of pirates. But first, he must assemble the crew he’s always dreamed of, and find a ship that will allow him to scour every mile of the endless seas, outmatch the Marines on his heels, and outsmart the dangerous rivals that lurk at every turn.

The interpretation of Netflix was very much liked by the viewers. The series went to streaming at the end of August, and on Rotten Tomatoes it already has over 10,000 ratings – their average was as much as 96 percent on the freshness scale. Critics are a bit harsher on the series, and they also spare no expense producing compliments, but their rating average is lower at 83 percent.

Critics praise the series for its interesting plot and low entry threshold for viewers who are unfamiliar with the manga and anime that were previously based on it. They point out that the creators showed great understanding and respect for the source material, which, according to some, translated into one of the best Netflix series ever created.
