The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), which manages the Fukushima plant, launched last week the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima plant into the sea after the Japanese nuclear authority finally approved the government’s plan after receiving the approval of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Nevertheless, protests against this measure continue and the Prime Minister Japanese has come out publicly to knock down the critics.
The dumping of treated contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant began amidst numerous criticisms and protests against it. Specifically, the national federation of fishing cooperatives maintains a firm rejection of this plan, arguing that the measure prevent Fukushima fishermen from ridding themselves of radioactive stigma weighing on their catches since 2011.
In order to refute these criticisms and defend the quality of the fishery product, the Japanese Prime Minister and other members of the Government have publicly tasted fish and seafood dishes coming from the area of fukushima. With this pleasure, they seek to show that there is no danger after the discharge of water from the Fukushima plant into the sea.
