Colombia: Nevado del Ruiz volcano increases activity and emits ash

An increase in the activity of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano in the last hours caused the fall of ash in the city of Manizales, west of Colombiareported on Sunday the Geological Service of the Andean country.

The body that monitors the behavior of the colossus explained in its X network account, formerly known as Twitter, that the “slight” increase in activity of the colossus was associated with the dynamics of the fluids and the direction of the wind, causing the phenomenon of conspicuous way in that city.

He added that although the Nevado del Ruiz It presents less instability, the activity could increase at any time, “with the probability of making an eruption of considerable magnitude.”

For this reason, monitoring is permanent, specified the service that accompanied the report with images of the expulsion of a column of ash.

The Nevado del Ruiz volcano, located at 5,321 meters above sea level, has presented irregular activity since March 31 with an increase in seismicity, columns of gases and ash.

The colossus is located on the axis of the central mountain range of the Andean country and has been monitored since 1985, when its eruption caused the death of thousands of people in Armero.
