Donald Tusk with a promise. “It’s a solemn promise. The day after the election, I’ll go there”

Donald Tusk promised that the opposition’s victory in the elections would mean unblocking the money from the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO). He promised to go to Brussels on the matter the day after the election.

– Here, in Sopot, my hometown of Sopot, I make this solemn promise that the day after the election, after the victory, I will go and unlock this money, and we will all feel it – said Donald Tusk during a meeting with voters about the funds from the National Reconstruction Plan. – There is only one country in the entire EU that has not received a single euro. This is Poland – reminded the chairman of the Civic Platform, emphasizing that even Hungary received the money.

What is KPO and milestones all about?

The high prices that are bothering you today may be less annoying, if only because of this one decision – unlocking Polish money that lies today in Brussels

– assured Donald Tusk.

The National Reconstruction Plan is an investment plan for Poland – prepared by the government and approved by the European Commission. This is a huge, €806.9 billion plan to rebuild the EU economy after the coronavirus pandemic. Poland received EUR 35.4 billion, mostly in the form of subsidies. During the meeting with voters, Tusk calculated that it was about PLN 500 million for each poviat. Each country had to prepare its own KPO, according to the EU guidelines, for approval by the European Commission, and then by the EU finance ministers in the EU Council.

The topic of funds from the National Reconstruction Plan has been on the agenda for a very long time. We could have received the first tranche of funds many months ago. But The European Commission had reservations about the rule of law in Poland, and more specifically about what is happening in the judiciary. The European Commission wants to liquidate the Disciplinary Chamber, the return to sentencing of judges that this House had dismissed and the reform of the disciplinary system in the judiciary. These conditions remain in force and until they are met by us, money will not flow to Poland. – With us, Kaczyński and Morawiecki de facto lie every day that this money is already working, that everything will be OK. Nothing will be okay if they continue to rule – added Tusk in Sopot.
