Ecuador: According to exit results, correista Luisa González leads preferences

The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador confirmed this Sunday that 82.26% of voters registered for the presidential and legislative elections this Sunday came to exercise that right, which represents an abstention of 17.74%.

The president of the CNE, Diana Atamaint, in a press conference after the closure of the polling stations, and after remarking that “not a single incident” occurred during voting day, insisted that the influx of voters to the polling stations in the national territory “has remained in the historical range,” reported the EFE Agency.

“We congratulate the Ecuadorian people for going to the polls en masse to decide who will be the new authorities” of the country, remarked Atamaint, who extended his thanks to the nearly 90,000 police and military personnel who provided security during the day.
