The results of the autopsy they conclude that daniel sancho ended the life of surgeon Edwin Arrieta cutting his throat. This has been indicated in statements to Efe by the number two of the Thai Police, Surachate Hakparnin charge of the crime investigation.

“We already have the definitive results of the autopsy. First they fought, according to the tests in the place [del crimen]. Daniel punched him, then the doctor [Arrieta] he fell and hit his head against the sink, but did not die at that timeif not when [Sancho] began to cut his throataccording to forensics,” the deputy director of the Thai Police told the aforementioned agency.

Sancho is inprovisional prison in the Koh Samui prison, in southern Thailand, since August 7, after confessing to the murder of Arrieta, committed on August 2. Surachate, known as ‘Big Joke’, has assured Efe that they already have “sufficient evidence” and expects the police investigation report to be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office this week, so that the trial could begin within three and six months.

“We can say that this case is already closed, complete. (…) The case has been resolved quickly. Now the Police are preparing the final report to send it to the Prosecutor’s Office before this Friday,” said the policeman supervising the investigation.

The Police have 83 days to investigate since Sancho entered prison. The senior police officer, however, already made a similar announcement last Tuesday during a press conference at Koh Phangan police station, the neighboring island of Koh Samui where the murder and dismemberment took place. So, he already concluded the investigation and claimed that Sancho had stabbed Arrieta in the left side of the chest during a fight, although the cause of death was unknown, pending autopsy results.

Now, however, ‘Big Joke’ he spoke of a punch and not a stabbing and has stated that the autopsy results are “definitive”. Surachate has also admitted in the conversation with Efe that there are still parts of Arrieta’s body to be found, and that one of them is the torso, where he thinks the surgeon’s mobile phone could be located. Sancho was questioned again on Wednesday, which showed that the investigation was continuing despite Surachate’s announcement the day before.

Sancho, 29, has been accused by the Police of premeditated murder after he himself confessed to having killed and dismembered the 44-year-old Colombian surgeon. Sancho and Arrieta, who met last year through Instagram, had met in Koh Phangan on August 2, the day the crime took place, and the victim’s remains have been found in various locations on the island, including the sea.
