Gamarra: negligence of the Government slows production capacity to 50%

Gamarra used to move S/6,600 million a year. The pandemic arrived four years ago and they have not been able to recover to date: production levels have been reduced by 50% and now they invoice a little more than S/3,000 million.

Susana Saldanapresident of the Gamarra Peru Associationregrets that in almost half a year of government —and in those that preceded it— the reactivation policies have not been effective, to such an extent that they are considered “non-existent” because they do not reach the microentrepreneurs who move the largest commercial emporium in the country .

“We are already affected this year by the blockades, the political noise, the El Niño phenomenon and zero reactivation measures from the Executive,” he commented for La República, but not before remembering that for programs like Reactiva, FAE-Mype and Impulso Perú, obstacles are placed on mypes, even —as this newspaper previously reported— financial entities deny participating in the decisions sung by the Government. Besides, there is the unbalanced pitch against imports, since no safeguards were applied to Chinese clothing.

The outlook is complicated in a year in which entities such as the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) have reduced their expectations for economic growth. “Only Gamarra produces the 1% of Peruvian GDPand in the first semester our production has not been even 50% of what was expected,” he added.

For this reason, as a result of the announced protests, they demand that the integrity of entrepreneurs and more than 100,000 daily customers, since “they can’t stop again”.

In the latest protests, S/400 million were lost due to road blockades, he added, because textile production could not be brought to the regions, and in one of its strongest campaigns, the National Holidays, the impact it can be more aggressive.
