Challenges in basic education

The coordinator of the laboratory in charge of the evaluations, Carlos Henríquez, pointed out that “Peru has the urgent challenge of generating a development plan for the educational system and strengthening the institutional framework in order to carry out the next steps with the priority of moving towards a more inclusive and equitable education ”.

Some of the factors associated with better learning in Peru were access to initial education, study days at home, and parental involvement, parents’ expectations, and a higher socioeconomic level of families.

On the other hand, repetition and absence from class are associated as limiting factors for learning.

It was also observed that students from indigenous peoples have lower results in evaluations.
