Youssouf Traoré, 29, led the march commemorating the death of his brother in Paris Adama (known as the ‘French George Floyd’). The call has gathered last Saturday in Paris around a thousand people (more than 2,000 according to other sources). Like many others in the country, prohibitions have been defied to the concentrations, with a France that is still in suspense after the recent riots over the outbreak of the banlieu (for Nahel, the 17-year-old boy who was shot by a policeman).
Accused of hitting an officer At the beginning of the demonstration, they were looking for Youssouf. It was useless to ask calm or that they will not touch him. Don’t try a human chain to resist as a group. Nor, of course, trying to get away from the riot police. At the first opportunity, they decide to go all out against Youssouf based on punches and shoves without much filter.
The detainee ends up on the ground, receiving hard blows and a mountain of agents on top of him, with his face against the asphalt. The agents did not have any regards, nor delicacies, when they take him into custody. Neither with him, nor with those who cross his path.
Youssouf spent the night hospitalized for the blows received: nose fracture, head injury with purple eye and bruises in thorax, abdomen and lumbar. They have dropped charges against him for his hospitalization, although they could take them back. When leaving the police station, he thanked those who risked participating in the march for his brother despite the fact that it was not authorized. And he asked for justice for the rest of the wounded, which there were.
“We were demonstrating peaceably. In the video it is clearly seen how the policemen They go for me and attack me. They hit me everywhere,” Youssouf explained on social media.
This violent arrest occurs in the midst of calls for more protests and it does not help the state of nerves where is france just a few days of its National Holiday, which this year it will look less. And it is quite literal, since they have been fireworks prohibited.
