Ghislaine Maxwell was for years couple right hand and partner of the famous American tycoon Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in a prison in 2019. But also, the one responsible for capturing the minors for Epstein and his friends to sexually abuse them.
This is how the US Attorney’s Office considers it at the beginning of this controversial trial for the alleged plot of sexual abuse, which describes Maxwell as a dangerous woman, who prepared girls to deliver them to a predator: Epstein and his powerful friends, among whom are the Prince Andrew of England, called to testify next summer.
The Prosecutor’s Office considers it proven that. at least between 1994 and 2004, Maxwell approached young, vulnerable, and financial troubles. He earned their trust and manipulated them based on promises of scholarships, travel and contacts. “They made them believe that their dreams would come true”, that they could be actresses, models, music, but everything “was a hoax.” All until he got them alone with Espstein, opening the way for the abuses that took place in Epstein’s homes in Florida, New York, the Virgin Islands, Santa Fe (New Mexico) and Paris (France).
Furthermore, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, in some of these sexual encounters Maxwell was present and actively participated. For all these reasons, Ghislaine Maxwell is accused of child sex trafficking and faces a sentence of 80 years in prison.
In the trial, which has aroused great expectation, four of his victims declare, including Jane, which was captured at age 14. The judge who is directing the case, Alithon Nathan, has been forced to set up half a dozen rooms where the view can be followed through closed circuit television.
