We just had the hottest day in the history of planet Earth

Monday, July 3, was the warmest day globally since there are measurements, exceeding the threshold of 17ºC on average for the first time, according to data released this Tuesday by a US meteorological agency.

The average air temperature on the planet’s surface Land on July 3 it was 17.01 ºC, according to measurements by an agency dependent on the Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of USA (NOAA).

The measure exceeds the previous daily record (16.92 ºC) established on July 24, 2022, according to data from the national environmental forecasting centers of the NOAAdating back to 1979.

According to NOAA, the air temperature, which ranges from 12 ºC and 17 ºC approximately daily average during the year, was -on average- 16.20ºC in early July between 1979 and 2000.

The record will have to be corroborated by other measures, but it could be broken quickly as summer is just beginning.

At the beginning of June, global average temperatures were already the highest ever recorded in that period by The European Copernicus Service.

These observations are a probable anticipation of the phenomenon of The boy, generally associated with an increase in world temperatures, added to the effects of climate change.

On June 8, NOAA announced the official arrival of El Niño, and assured that it could lead to “new temperature records” in some regions.
