The President of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenski, has assured Ana Pastor and the El Objetivo team in Kyiv that Putin studies blowing up the Zaporizhia nuclear power plantnow under Russian rule.
As he has stated, “the Zaporizhia plant is minedthe International Atomic Energy Organization confirms this, although it maintains that the reactor is not mined.”
In Zelensky’s words, “there are heavy weapons inside” of the facilities, where there are some 500 soldiers also carrying “grenades”.
“When there is a mined territory and there are weapons, obviously there is a risk. The Russians now propose a withdrawal from the plant to then have the possibility, we know for sure that Moscow has studied it that way, to give us the plant and to blow it up from a distance”, he added.
This Saturday, the Ukrainian president he is going to see for the third time with Pedro Sánchez, who will be in the capital of the country on his first day as president of the Union. A trip that is about a gesture towards Ukraine.
Ana Pastor has asked Zelenski about the electoral campaign in Spain and about whether he is concerned about a possible change of government.
“They are your leaders, your land, your country. The population will elect whoever they want without any pressure. But for us it is important that relations are not broken. I want the wishes of your new government to coincide with the population that I believe supports Ukraine I know that 50-60% support Ukraine and its entry into NATO, it is a high percentage and I am grateful. I think Ukraine trusts Spain a lot. We want to live like you but for that we have to survive”, she replied.
