The Consulate General of Finland in St. Petersburg has experienced interruptions in mobile communications, RBC reports.

According to the Finnish media, citing the country’s Foreign Ministry, the problems arose last week and mainly concerned outgoing calls. So far there are no problems.

The press service of the Foreign Ministry told reporters that the problems are related to “bank payments after Russia froze the accounts of Finnish diplomatic missions.” How bank payments are related to communication problems, whether the connection was blocked intentionally or it was a technical failure, is not specified. There were no blackouts at the Finnish Embassy in Moscow.

Recall that in mid-May, the Finnish Foreign Ministry accused Russia of violating the Vienna Convention by freezing the accounts of the embassy in Moscow and the Consulate General in St. Petersburg. The Russian side said that this measure was a response to the fact that the Russian embassy in Finland was allowed to use only one account in one bank in the country – Nordea.
