Nine Ibero-American countries, including Peru, debate in Madrid on public leadership

Representatives from nine Ibero-American countries participate from this Monday until December 3 in Madrid (Spain) in the V edition of the Ibero-American Public Leadership Program, an event aimed at sharing experiences and good practices that contribute to the strengthening and modernization of the Administration Public in the region.

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru and the Dominican Republic, along with Spain, are the countries that are present in this program, organized by the Carolina Foundation and Telefónica, which was inaugurated this Monday at the Casa de América from the Spanish capital.

The representatives of these countries, who hold positions of relevant public responsibility in the institutions, will carry out these days an agenda of institutional meetings and academic sessions in which they will talk with Spanish and European referents on cutting-edge issues on management and public policies, informs the Carolina Foundation in a statement.

The V edition of this program, entitled “Inclusion and sustainability: policies committed to future generations”, also aims to debate and reflect on the challenge posed by the pandemic both in Spain and the European Union, as well as in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In this challenge, the triple ecological, productive and digital transition stands out, based on a new pact with citizens, which also incorporates future generations and their rights, and aspires to reactivate the mobilization of societies within the framework of the 2030 Agenda, points to the note.

Likewise, the Program aims to address, debate and reflect on five other major challenges that arise from these multilateral commitments: democratic governance, the environment, the economic model, digital transformation and the capacities to govern the future.

At the opening ceremony, the Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Pilar Cancela; Telefónica’s Director of Global Public Affairs, Trinidad Jiménez; and the director of the Carolina Foundation, José Antonio Sanahuja.

All of them highlighted the consolidation of this initiative, which began in 2016, as well as the high female presence in the current edition – more than half of the guests are women – “proof of the strong commitment of the Carolina Foundation to gender policies , which is a priority for Spanish Cooperation ”, Cancela underlined.
