A tremendous explosion in the V district of Paris has caused a fire in several buildings in the French capital. Some residents of the area have explained that minutes before the noise they have suffered a strong smell of gas. According to EFE, there are injured, although their condition is unknown at the moment.
The explosion has caused a large mobilization of firefighters and police who have cordoned off the area and have asked citizens to avoid the area.
The Police Prefecture has indicated on its Twitter account that the emergency interventionwas underway on rue Saint Jacques, near the Val de Grâce hospital, and has asked the population to avoid the area and to let the emergency services work.
On the same social network, the number two of the V district mayor’s office, Édouard Civel, specified that there had been a gas explosion in Alfonse Laveran square and that there were several buildings on fire.
