Pair of Jordan sneakers sells at auction for $1.38 million

A pair of sneakers worn by NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan has sold for $1.38 million at auction, online sales website Goldin announced Thursday.

Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan wore this shoe in the 1990s in Game 5 of the 1997 Finals against the Utah Jazz.

The Bulls and Jazz were tied at 2 wins in this best-of-seven final, when Jordan insisted on playing in Salt Lake City while suffering from dehydration due to a virus.

The Bulls star had scored 38 points in 44 minutes, including a decisive 3-pointer in the final seconds, giving his team a 90-88 victory.

The Bulls were finally crowned champions after another victory at home (90-86) and Jordan was chosen as the best player (MVP).

The shoes, which had previously belonged to a former Utah Jazz employee, had first sold at auction 10 years ago for $105,000.
