He Bolivian government concluded this Tuesday that the death of the controller of the fassil bank, Carlos Colodrowho fell from the 15th floor of a building, was a “suicide” and ruled out the participation of other people in that event.
“We have investigated each and every one of the hypotheses” and “all the technical expert elements have shown that it was a suicide”asserted the Minister of Government (Interior), Eduardo del Castilloin a press conference.
The Minister of Government presented this day the results of the studies in forensic medicine, film review, planimetry, graphology and statements of people to establish the context of Colodro’s death.
Last Saturday night it was learned that a man fell from a building in the eastern city of Santa Cruz and shortly after it was confirmed that he was the controller of Banco Fassil, one of the largest financial institutions in Bolivia.
Preliminary reports established that death was by a “traumatic shock, multiple laceration of internal organs and polytrauma due to precipitation” and that Colodro left a posthumous letter.
The attorneys for the inspector’s family questioned whether the body had injuries prior to impact with the ground and questioned the veracity of the manuscript, for which the Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation under the figure of homicide-suicide.
This day, Del Castillo based his statement on the records of the security cameras that showed that the inspector entered “completely alone” to the building in which some Banco Fassil offices operated.
Likewise, that Colodro greeted the security guard and entered several spaces and that shortly after “he threw himself off the balcony” and? “was not released or forced to do so”accurate.
Del Castillo indicated that the precipitation of the body was through a kind of channel formed by the space between the balconies and that during the fall it hit several times with the sides, which is why they are explained. “the serious injuries and multiple cuts.”
The authority also confirmed that the posthumous letter that was found in an agenda of the inspector and in which he explains some reasons for his decision “was written” by the deceased.
The minister mentioned that some relatives assured that, after assuming the position of comptroller, Colodro “I had concerns” and felt “a lot of work pressure”so it was assessed that “I had a depression.”
At the end of last month, the Government appointed Colodro as controller of Banco Fassil and he initiated the procedure for other financial entities toand take charge of customer deposits and make the “migration” of accounts and other services.
The Supervisory Authority of the Financial System (ASFI) attributed the crisis at Banco Fassil to the “bad practices of its executives and managers” and “irregular handling” by your business group.
For this reason, several of the main executives of the entity were criminally prosecuted and are in jail.
The Fassil crisis coincided with the lack of dollar liquidity in the Bolivian financial system a couple of months ago.
