A 16 year old teenager has stabbed the director to death from a school in the town of Colonia Independencia, in the department of Guairá, 172 kilometers from Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, as reported by the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC).

“This tragic event occurred this afternoon when the director, who is also a professor of mathematicsI was teaching the subject. In full swing, a student, without saying a word, has attempted the life of his teacher with a stabbing weapon,” the director of legal advice at the MEC, Juan Manuel Arce, explained to journalists.

The MEC will provide psychological support for all students present during the murder and to the local community, due to the “strong impact generated by this news, not only for the Ministry, but for the entire country,” Arce indicated.

The victim, identified as Sofia Rodriguez de Cristaldo44, was transferred from the San Gervasio School to a nearby hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries, according to the National Police.

The student, who had run away from schoolwas located by the police authorities in the town of Villarica, 45 kilometers from the scene of the event, a spokesperson for the National Police has detailed to the NPY channel.
