In the first quarter of the year, Colombia was the country of origin for the largest number of immigrants registered in Spainfollowed by others among which Venezuela, Peru, Honduras and Argentina stand out, according to official data published this Tuesday.
The main nationalities of registered immigrants from January to March 2023 were the Colombian with 44,300 arrivals in Spainthe Moroccan with 23,200 and the Venezuelan with 21,500, according to these data from the National Institute of Statistics.
Below are countries like Peru with 18,800Honduras with 10,100 and Argentina with 8,600 people.
The increase in foreigners offset the reduction in residents with Spanish nationality, with which the population as a whole increased by 136,916 people, 1.24%, to reach 48’196,693 inhabitants, its all-time high.
Foreigners increased by 149,530 people, to 6,227,092, while the population of Spanish nationality decreased by 12,614 people.
