The Chinese government has summoned the Japanese ambassador to the country to protest the statements about China made in the framework of the G7 summitwhich took place this weekend in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, on the occasion of the rotating presidency.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong has lodged its complaints with Ambassador Tare Hideto whom he pointed out that the Japanese side “should correct its understanding of China, understand its strategic independence, adhere to the principles of the four China-Japan political documents, and truly promote the stable development of bilateral relations with an attitude constructive”.
Weidong has referred to the G7, arguing that this group “adheres to the confrontation between camps and the mentality of the Cold War“. “His actions violate the general trend of history, objective facts and international morality,” he said, as can be read in a statement.
“Japan, as the rotating chairman of the G7 this year, collaborated with relevant countries to smear and attack China in the series of acts and joint statements of the Hiroshima summit, seriously interfering in China’s internal affairs, violating basic principles of law. International (…) and harming the interests of Chinatheir sovereignty, security and development,” reads the letter.
In this sense, Beijing has denounced the statements about the Chinese position of Taiwan, Hong Kong or Tibet, as well as the South China Sea, among others, indicating that “they are China’s internal affairs”, so “it will never allow” that “any external force makes irresponsible comments or interferes”.
“The United States is the instigator and the greatest risk of undermining the rules of international order and disrupt the functioning of the world economy,” he denounced, before adding that China has adhered to the policy of not being the first to use nuclear weapons and has kept its nuclear force at the lowest level required for national security.” .
The Chinese authorities already repudiated this Saturday the G7’s criticism of its economic practices and its expansion into the Indo-Pacific by portraying the group of international leaders as an obstacle to stability and development.
“This group claims to move towards a more stable world, peaceful and prosperous but what it is actually doing is hindering international peace, damaging regional stability and suppressing the development of other countries,” the Foreign Ministry said.
