Russia announces the death of two of its military commanders in Ukraine

Russia announced the death of two of its military commanders near an access area to the city of Bakhmut, on the eastern front of Ukraine.

In a rare announcement of battlefield casualties, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that commanders Viacheslav Makarov and Yevgeny Brovko died “heroically”.

Makarov, commander of the 14th motorized rifle brigade, repelled two enemy attacks with his men before being seriously wounded and dying during his evacuation from the battlefield, the ministry spokesman said. Igor Konachenkov.

Brovko, deputy commander of the army corps in charge of military-political work, died after receiving several injuries from shrapnel on the Ukrainian front.

The unusual communication from the Russian army reflects the escalation of fighting in recent days, while Moscow claims that it repelled attacks along 95 kilometers of the eastern front.

The fighting is still ravaging Bakhmut, the epicenter of the fighting in Donbas, and its surroundings.

According to the Russian ministry, “throughout the last day, the enemy carried out massive attempts to break through the defense of our troops, to the north and to the south” of Bakhmut.

He also celebrated on Sunday his attack on Ternopil (west) and Petropavlivka (central-east), sites that housed Western weapons delivered to kyivaccording to Russia.

Regional authorities indicated that this Russian attack left two injured in warehouses belonging to commercial companies and a religious organization.
