One person has died and another has been seriously injured in a shooting at a Mercedes-Benz factory of southern Germany, as reported on Thursday by the newspaper ‘Bild‘. The emergency services have gone to the scene of the events, at Factory 56 in Sindelfingen.
The Police initially confirmed on Twitter that there was a police operation underway at the facilities and later reported one fatality and one seriously injuredwhile the author has been arrested and “there is no longer any danger to the employees.”
The police operation began after receiving a warning call early this Thursday warning of the shooting, after which the entire premises were cordoned offwhile the assistance services and ambulances, including two helicopters, moved to the place, according to the Efe agency, which puts the total number of injured at three.
Mercedes, for its part, has confirmed an incident at the factory and that it is in contact with the authorities, without giving further details. Some 35,000 people work at the Sindelfingen facilities, according to the company’s website.
