This Saturday takes place Coronation of King Carlos IIItogether with his wife, the queen consort Camilla Parker Bowles. The event to crown the monarch consists five stage for the coronation: the recognition, the oath, the anointing, the investiture and accession to the thronewhich will be the final moment in which, according to tradition, the members of royalty will kneel before Carlos to swear allegiance to him in the famous Westminster Abbey. However, the coronation will not only be celebrated in the abbey but also on the streets with many events.
The ceremony has been so awaited during these last months by the population that already has its own Playlist on Spotify with internationally renowned English artists both current and past times. The British Ministry of Sport, Culture and Digital is the responsible for this initiative in which he has included 26 songs through the music support Spotify under the title of ‘Coronation Celebration Playlist’ as a proposal for the music that could be heard in the local and street parties of the London city.
The list, of almost two hours long includes historical artists such as David Bowie, The Beatles or the Spice Girls, but also renowned contemporary artists such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay or Harry Styles. On the other hand, it is not the first time that this ministry has created a music list for a special event. Regarding the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, in February 2022, which was celebrated with four days of partying, a list of songs was created to provide a soundtrack to the event. This list also had a multitude of songs that marked the reign of the previous queen with artists as renowned as Grace JonesQueen or Elton John and songs as popular as ‘All you need is love’ of The Beatles or ‘I Gotta Feelin’ by Black Eyed Peas.
