The set, which will come out at an estimated price of between 5 and 15 million dollars, contains part of Diana’s tragic story, since at the time of her death it was in the hands of the jeweler who had made it, and it was destined to be a gift from Dodi al Fayed, which could never be carried out.
Lady Di only wore the pendant in public once, during the opening of the Royal Albert Hall’s 1997 ballet session for a performance of “Swan Lake” -hence his nickname-, but just after that function the jeweler of the crown, from the London house Garrard, claimed the necklace to be able to complete the two matching earrings.
At the time of Diana and Al Fayed’s death, the set was in Garrard’s workshop, so Diana was never able to put the earrings on.

The next buyer was a Ukrainian family – their identity is unknown – who had it in their possession for twelve years, but with the Russian invasion they put it up for sale again to keep their fortune afloat, and Guernsey’s assures on this occasion that “part of the sale will go to the reconstruction of Ukraine.”
