The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has opposed the publication of the FBI affidavit that would justify the order Mar-a-Lago mansion record (Florida) of former President Donald Trump in order to seize documents.

Before the formal request to the judge to make the report public, the attorneys general have shown their refusal because, they allege, the document “would jeopardize an ongoing investigation“. “The affidavit supporting the search warrant presents a very different set of considerations,” the document reads.

Thus, he points out that “compelling reasons remain, including to protect the integrity of an ongoing police investigation involving national security, that support keeping the affidavit sealed.” In this way, the institution has explained that “information about witnesses is particularly sensitive given the high-profile nature of this matter,” they therefore fear that revealing the identities will affect the degree of cooperation in the investigation.

This document, signed by the federal prosecutor of South Florida -Juan Antonio González- and the head of counterintelligence of the department -Jay Bratt-, adds that the DOJ would be willing to publish other documents, including the sealing order issued by the judge. Last week, a Florida judge issued the search warrant and the list of seized material during the same after a request from the Department of Justice to which Trump did not oppose.

But the underlying affidavit would reveal the most extensive information used to justify the actionpossibly including fonts used by FBI agents and details about the documents and classified information, according to the Bloomberg agency.
