The Independent Group of Ecuador, owner of the Independiente del Valle of that country, announced this Thursday the purchase of the Colombian club Atlético Huila.
“Grupo Independiente has acquired the Atlético Huila team, an important Colombian soccer club with the aim of implementing the ‘Independent Method’, which focuses on the training of high-performance talent, the construction of medium and long-range sports processes for achieve sports and institutional excellence”, he reported in a statement.
He Atletico Huila confirmed that “a corporate operation has been formalized through which 97.203% of the shares of Sociedad Club Atlético Huila SA have been sold, mostly to a foreign holding company, which consequently and as of the date assumes management of the club”.
Thanks to the injection of capital, the Ecuadorian Independiente del Valle has managed to put together a sports structure with high-performance soccer players that has allowed it to win the South American Cup twice and the collect of Conmebol and the Under-20 Libertadores Cup.
The Independent Group points out that its intention with Atlético Huila is “structure work processes planned in the medium and long term, with the aim of creating a culture of excellence, focused on the development of footballers in all aspects of their lives”.
The statement adds that “Independiente has been recognized for its excellence in developing talent and its commitment to the community. With the acquisition of Atlético Huila, values will be taken to help create opportunities for thousands of young people in Colombia”.
