Juan Guaidó asks Venezuelan opponents to rebuild a ‘sincere unity’

“It is a moment, of course, that should lead us to more unity. To a sincere unity, which re-legitimizes the leadership in Venezuela,” said Guaidó.

The Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó said this Monday that, after the elections held in the Caribbean country, in which Chavismo won 20 of the 23 governorships, there is an urgent need to “rebuild” “a sincere unity that legitimizes the leaderships in Venezuela ”.

“It is a moment, of course, that must lead us to more unity. To a sincere unity, which re-enacts the leadership in Venezuela, which rebuilds a unitary platform, which responds to the interests of Venezuelans,” Guaidó said during a conference. press in Caracas.

He assured that, given the electoral results, it is not the time to “distribute blame”, but rather to express “respect for the citizens” and to reflect, because “what happened yesterday we cannot call it a free and fair election.”

“Today fits and is a day of respect for citizens, of care for Venezuelans and also reflection on the part of the leadership, on the part of those who call themselves leaders today in Venezuela. Because the need for reunification and articulation of all the factors to be able to confront the regime, “he added.

Guaidó reiterated that the elections this Sunday took place “without pre-existing conditions”, with the “kidnapping” of the initials of opposition parties and that they were organized by an Electoral Power “supervised” by the Government of Nicolás Maduro.

“They wanted to corner us in a false dilemma of voting or not voting when we want to choose the future of Venezuelans. They are going to try to measure us or to measure the democratic alternative in Venezuela by the color of the map, when, even according to the figures released from the CNE supervised by the dictatorship, they do not even have a majority in this sense, “he added.

The former parliamentarian pointed out that elections “can be” a solution to the political conflict only if conditions are guaranteed and the electoral dispute centers on “the power kidnapped by Nicolás Maduro.”

When asked about the dialogue in Mexico between the Government of Venezuela and the opposition wing that he leads, and which was suspended after the extradition of Colombian businessman Alex Saab, Guaidó said that “it is a necessity to find solutions.”

“We are ready to achieve a national salvation agreement, we are ready to resume,” he said, after recalling that Maduro’s delegation continues to “insist with the atrocity of calling a criminal a diplomat to the detriment not only of Venezuelans, but of his own people”.

The president said yesterday that there will be “more dialogue, political understanding, coexistence and harmony”, although he affirmed that “there are no conditions” to re-install the negotiating table with the opposition.

“We’re going to wait. What the US Government did is very serious, “said the president about the arrest in Cape Verde and subsequent extradition of Saab to the US, where he faces a judicial process for an alleged crime of money laundering. (I)
