“We are very pleased that the Mariana project is progressing smoothly towards expected commercial production in 2024.″, said the executive director of TNR, Kirill Klip.
Construction of the Mariana project began in June 2022 and has the capacity to produce 20,000 tons of lithium chloride per year.
Argentina is the fourth largest lithium producer in the world (behind Australia, Chile and China), the third in reserves (behind Chile and Australia) and the second in resources (behind Bolivia).
The country currently has a portfolio of 38 lithium projects concentrated in three northwestern provinces of the country (Jujuy, Salta and Catamarca), of which two are in production and expansion process.
Due to the potential of the projects under construction that will soon enter the production stage, Argentina plans to climb to third place as a world producer shortly.
