Police have confirmed that the massive hit-and-run which took place last Sunday in Waukesha (Wisconsin, USA), where five people died and 48 were injured during a Christmas parade, it was not a terrorist attack.
“There is no proof that this is a terrorist incident,” explained Police Department Chief Dan Thompson.
In the same press conference, it was specified that the suspect, who has already been arrested, was involved before the mass attack in a “domestic altercation“, without specifying the police yet what it is about.
The alleged perpetrator of the outrage was identified by the authorities as Darren Brooks, 39 and originally from Milwaukee, and who, according to police, was apparently acting alone.
An agent tried to neutralize him by opening fire on him, but due to the crowd gathered in the area due to the parade, he had to stop shooting to avoid victims of the shots. Ultimately, Brooks was arrested by the police not far from the area where the incident occurred and now faces five counts of intentional murder in the first degree.
The events happened last Sunday when a red vehicle burst into the celebration of the Christmas parade at high speed.
Among the injured are minors who had come to celebrate the arrival of the holidays.
