The mayoress of Paris, Anne Hidalgohe crossed out this Thursday of “ridiculous” the offer of 38 million euros (US$ 41.8 million) made by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to acquire the Parc des Princes municipal stadium.
“The club has proposed 38 million euros. I think the word ‘ridiculous’ is the best suited to describe it”, indicated the councilor on the RFI radio.
This is a new clash between the City Council, owner of the Parque de los Príncipes, and the Qatari owners of the club, who want to acquire it for be able to face expansion works.
Gentlemanwhich is now opposed to the sale, acknowledged that at first they valued it, to provide PSG with its own stadium as other major European clubs have.
But he indicated that when this option was underway, certain procedures had to be respected “typical of countries in which the rule of law functions”, between them fix “a price that corresponds to the good”.
“During the process in which we tried to assess the possible price of the Parque de los Príncipes, the club proposed 38 million euros”, assured Hidalgo, who qualified this offer as “ridiculous”.
At the time of presenting that offer, the first deputy mayor, emmanuel gregoirehe had ironized saying that “he Princes Park can’t cost less than Leandro Paredes”, in relation to the Argentine midfielder for whom PSG paid at the time 50 million euros.
Negotiations between the two parties have been broken since the mayor announced at the beginning of the year in an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien that the stadium is no longer for sale.
The president of the psgNasser Al-Khelaifi, rejects a new rental contract like the current one, because he wants to face expensive expansion works to go from the current 47,000 spaces to 58,000, a project estimated at around 500 million.
On March 13, the club officially announced that it will make an offer to purchase the Stade de France, an 80,000-seat venue, owned by the French State, which opened a public tender that included its possible sale.
The period for receiving offers ends this Thursday, without revealing how many the Élysée has received, which in addition to the transfer is also considering a new exploitation contract similar to the one that the Vinci-Bouyges consortium now has, which ends in January 2025.
According to an official provisional assessment, the price of the Parque de los Príncipes is 647 million euros.
Gentleman closed the door again this Thursday to a sale of the Princes Parkwhile the City Council considers that the interest of the psg at the Stade de France is nothing more than a deterrent maneuver to increase the pressure.
Numerous ex-players of the club, as well as the main fan associations, have been against moving to the stadium of francewhich unlike the Parc des Princes, is not in Paris, as it is located in the neighboring municipality of Saint-Denis.
